about

Arthington Stack is a musician who relentlessly tinkers in the damp recesses of a pregnant concrete basement in suburban Brisbane. Stradling the divide between outsider lofi home spun scrawl and straight
up indie psych pop genius, his debut album 'His Sterrible Ark' obscures an infectious nature on early encounters. You start to wonder whether its creator is working on a higher plane of expression, or lost in
some psychedelic fog, scratching for a way out, and it’s both those reasons make this collection even more so compelling.

Amongst the Carnaby Street psychedelia, black meta snatches, baroque pop and outlier weirdly-ness there is indeed a thrilling method at play which serves to make sense of any perceived sonic madness.

The mood of 'His Sterrble Ark' dances on both sides of the ballroom, leaving the dividing curtain wide open to allow the abstract and the accessible to waltz in simpatico, but always on the artists terms. Those terms are singular in vision, reflected in the defiant low fi tones, creative decisions informed only by the music, any movement toward convention ignored. The result is a shift in time and place, an arcane moodiness studded with hints of underlying beauty.

On his debut offering, Stack has rewritten the rule book - and had it shredded. A sophisticated sonic concoction best imbibed by the bottle, not by the glass.
